What is SONAR?

SONAR is a sensing strategy which measures features of an underwater environment or medium by the way in which that environment transmits, reflects and/or absorbs acoustic waves.

How does sonar differ from CCTV?

Sonar utilizes sound waves to measure distance underwater, unlike CCTV sonar can produce computer images through in most any liquid medium.

Does SSI perform CCTV inspections?

Yes, SSI performs custom CCTV inspections of large and long line pipes. SSI offers combination sonar and CCTV inspections for partially charged pipelines as well as WRc reporting.

What can sonar inspect?

SSI specializes in sonar inspections of pipelines including siphons, forcemains, pressure sewers, penstock, aqua ducts, and long pipelines lines. SSI also offers many other geosciences and sonar surveys with our partners Frontier Geosciences Inc. including bathymetric, ground penetrating radar, sub-bottom profiling and other types of surveys.

How accurate are inspection results?

Accuracy will vary based on the length, speed, and other factors involved with the survey with an average error of +/- .03%.

What does a sonar inspection cost?

Because of the unique nature of each pipeline or marine inspection cost is job dependent please contact Dennis to price a project.

What can I expect to get from a sonar survey?

Each survey is tailored to meet the demands of our customers. The results of any survey depend on the criteria and accuracy the customer needs helping minimize the cost of inspections.
